The Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) is a movement of “Youth for Youth”. It is not an association or an institution but is made up of young people who belong to various associations or groups animated by Salesian Youth Ministry.
It is an open reality which favours the coming together of all the youth groups and associations who share the same Saleisian Spirituality and pedagogical principles, while maintaining their organizational autonomy and uniqueness. It is a space which receives and welcomes every youngster to further enhance the experience of fraternity and communion which is lived in a very limited space and entity, restricted to a particular geographical unit.
Apart from its spiritual and pedagogical identity it is present through the following fields of activity;
- Education and Evangelisation
- Social and Ecclesial life
- Personal and Communitarian apostolic commitments
- Socio-Political Involvement
The movement is visibly present and active in the above said fields at various local, provincial, national and intercontinental levels. Not being a rigid and organizational structure the movement at various levels enjoy great freedom and flexibility to develop into a reality that readily and profoundly responds to the needs of the youth of the place.
The SYM is active and well represented at Provincial and National levels. It is only in Europe the movement has evolved into a continental movement bringing together all the European provinces and countries where the groups are present and alive.
